A damaged wall returned to the room
This Heritage Pointe powder room already had a dramatic black damask finish when an accident opened a large irregular section of the wall. Most of the surrounding wallpaper was still sound, so the job was not a full-room redesign. It was a focused repair: remove the compromised material, prepare the exposed area and reconnect the replacement to the existing pattern without making the room look patched.

Project challenge
A localized repair can be less forgiving than hanging a new wall. The intact paper establishes the pattern, sheen and seam positions, while the damaged opening removes the easy starting edge. On this near-black damask, even a small shift in the large repeat would show immediately where the floral forms meet.
Repair approach
The damaged material was removed back to controlled boundaries and the exposed wall was made ready for replacement. The new section was positioned against the sound wallpaper on both sides, with the repeat checked from the dominant doorway view before the repair was finished. The goal was simple: preserve the room the homeowner already liked rather than turn one accident into a full-room replacement.
Damage, preparation and the finished repair
The three project photos show why the preparation stage matters: the opening was larger than the visible tear, and the pattern had to reconnect across the full repaired section.

Damage assessment
The repair area was defined by the condition of the wallpaper and wall, not only by the visible tear.
Pattern focus
The large high-contrast damask repeat was checked against the intact finish before the replacement section was completed.
Result
The powder room kept its original design, with the damaged area restored instead of the full room being replaced.
Why leftover wallpaper is worth keeping
Spare material gives a future repair the best chance of matching the installed colour, texture and repeat. Keep leftover rolls and product labels dry and flat after an installation; production batches can vary, and a label helps identify the original material when a wall is damaged later.
