Front door glass privacy film for a Collingwood new build
A tall glass entry door is the signature of a modern build – and a straight sightline from the sidewalk into the foyer. This Collingwood new build in NW Calgary kept the daylight and lost the sightline with front door glass privacy film: Silver Tech frosted film applied edge-to-edge on the single tall lite. Frosted film works in both directions around the clock, so evenings with the foyer lights on are as private as mid-day – the failure mode of reflective films on entry glass.

Project challenge
Entry-door glass is the most looked-at pane in the house: backlit from inside at night, side-lit through the day, inspected from arm’s length by every visitor at the keypad. Any dust sealed under the film, any edge gap against the stops, any contamination in the frost shows as a shadow on the glow. The door also carries smart hardware, and the panel sits deep in a dark frame that shows every reflection.
Our solution
The glass was deep-cleaned and the frame masked, then the Silver Tech frost was cut to the exact lite and laid edge-to-edge in one piece – no seams, no borders. Edges were finished tight to the stops so the panel reads as factory-frosted glass rather than a film, and the install was wrapped inside an hour, keypad and hardware untouched.
Both sides of the glass
Privacy film on an entry door has two audiences – the street side and the foyer side. Here is how the frost reads from each.
