Daylight without the roof deck

Glass offices promise daylight; this second-floor suite at Centre 89 got the daylight plus a full view of the neighbouring flat roof – HVAC units, vent stacks and gravel – and gave the same view straight back into its meeting spaces.

Project challenge

The suite sits at roof height of the adjacent building. Every full-height pane framed mechanical equipment instead of skyline, and anyone on that roof or in the facing block could see desks and meetings. Blinds would have traded the problem for a dark office and a slatted view of the same equipment.

Our solution

Full-height matte frosted film across the window walls in the lounge and offices, finished to the door sidelite so the suite reads as one system. The glass now works as a lightbox: full diffuse daylight in, the roof deck gone, and no sightline into the rooms from outside at any hour. No blinds to manage, nothing to dust, and the black frames read sharper against the even white field.

Through the suite – lounge, offices and door glass

The same full-height treatment carries room to room, so the whole floor reads as one architectural line rather than a patchwork of fixes.

The glass becomes a lightbox

Matte frosted film diffuses the whole pane: full daylight keeps coming in, but the roof hardware and every inward sightline are gone – day and night.

Working-suite install

Panel-by-panel work during fit-out – clean prep, contained water and squeegee work, each room back in service as its wall was finished.

Nothing to manage

No blinds to tilt, restring or dust. The film is the finished surface, and it comes off clean if a future tenant wants the clear glass back.
