One builder-white wall, elevated

New-build bedrooms in Yorkville come painted one builder shade; this one traded its blank headboard wall for marble panels laced with metallic gold geometry. The paper does the work a whole gallery wall usually tries to: veined stone ground, crisp metallic lines, and a pattern that reads as architecture rather than decoration.

Project challenge

Large-format geometric patterns are unforgiving: every gold line has to land exactly on its neighbour across each seam, and a metallic foil ground shows every substrate flaw and every touch of adhesive at a raking angle. On a fresh builder wall that means full surface prep first, and clean hands throughout.

Our solution

The wall was skimmed and primed, the pattern centred on the bed axis so the interlocking motif reads symmetrically from the doorway, and each drop pattern-matched so the gold geometry runs unbroken across the wall. Edges were finished tight to ceiling, baseboard and corners – no gaps, no foil creases, no adhesive on the metallic face.

Surface prep first

Skimmed and primed before the first drop – a metallic foil ground telegraphs every high spot and trowel mark left underneath it.

Pattern discipline

Centred on the bed axis, struck to a plumb line, and matched drop to drop so the gold geometry crosses every seam without a break.

Clean metallic finish

No foil creases, no burnished patches, no adhesive on the face – on a reflective paper, restraint is most of the finish.

Geometric and metallic papers, planned before they are cut

Pattern-heavy papers live or die at the seams – see the art deco diamond powder room in Patterson and the bedroom mural in Winston Heights, or read what wallpaper installation costs in Calgary before you buy the paper.
