Six panes of street-facing glass, frosted in one visit

This Altadore entry door has six clear glass panels set in a black-painted wooden frame. Before the film, anyone on the front step could see straight into the entry hall. Alex installed Metamark Dusted Crystal frosted film on all six panels in September 2026, in about two hours on site.

The frost lets daylight into the entry while blurring what sits behind the glass. At night, with the hall lit, the view stays blurred, but strong backlighting can still show a person near the door as a soft silhouette.

Before: clear glass in all six panels, with the entry rug and hall in plain view from the front step. The houses in the upper panes are reflections of the street behind the camera.

After, from outside at night with the hall lit: the frost blurs the interior. A person standing close to the glass still shows as a silhouette under strong backlighting.

Project challenge

The frame is wood, and the paint along the glass stops was separating. While the film was going on, loose wood fibres and paint flakes worked their way under it on several panels.

Installed solution

Rather than leave specks trapped under the frost, Alex removed the film from the affected panels, cleaned the glass and the frame edges again, and installed fresh film. The whole door, including the redone panels, took about two hours.

Six panels, one film

Every pane in the door carries the same Dusted Crystal frost, so the door reads as one even surface from the street.

Redone, not left

Panels contaminated by loose wood fibres and paint were stripped, cleaned and refilmed during the same visit.

Day and night views

Daylight still reaches the entry; after dark, the lit hall shows as a blur rather than a clear view.

From inside the entry
