How workmanship and any material warranty are divided

LayerWhat it coversTerm
Our workmanship warrantyOur hanging — seams, alignment and pattern match within the manufacturer’s tolerance, plumb, edge adhesion, trim lines, clean-up, and the preparation, primer and adhesive selection we quoted or performed — measured against the published wallpaper installation standardsResidential 1 year · Commercial 2 years, from the signed completion record — a valid written claim within the term is corrected at no charge
Manufacturer / supplier warranty (where one applies)The material itself — dye lot, print and manufacturing defects — under the manufacturer’s or supplier’s written programManufacturer-provided — set and administered by the manufacturer or supplier under its own written terms, and not a Wall Style Innovations warranty; any term as stated on your quote. Where you supplied the material, product claims stay with your seller. Manufacturer coverage is additional to your rights against us.

What the workmanship warranty covers

Workmanship coverage is subject to the material-specific characteristics below and covers: preparation we quoted or performed, adhesive and primer selection, cuts, placement, seams (tight, no overlaps except where the product requires double-cut or overlap), pattern match within the manufacturer’s stated tolerance, plumb, edge adhesion, trim lines at ceilings, casings and outlets, clean-up, and no blisters or bubbles attributable to our installation after full drying. We remain responsible for damage caused by our work — including damage to client-supplied material and damage during stripping — and for proceeding after we knew or reasonably should have known the substrate or material was unsuitable. Inspection is from 1.5 m (5 ft) in normal room lighting after the stated drying period, per our published standards.

By material — what differs, what is disclosed

MaterialWhat differsSpecific exclusions / disclosures
Non-woven (paste-the-wall)Most dimensionally stable; standard terms apply.—
Traditional paper / paper-backedExpands when pasted; minor seam behaviour is possible during drying.Seam opening from later shrinkage caused by house heat and humidity swings.
Vinyl (residential and commercial Type I/II)Durable; seams may be double-cut.Adhesive failure on unprimed, glossy or contaminated substrates we did not prepare; mildew from moisture behind the wall.
Grasscloth, sisal, cork and natural fibresVisible seams, colour and texture variation, and no pattern match are inherent characteristics, disclosed at quoting.Shade variation between and within strips, visible seams, fading in direct sun, staining from moisture, disclosed adhesive show-through on loosely woven products.
Textiles, silk, linenDelicate; may require a liner.Water spotting, paste transfer, snags; cleaning of any kind.
Murals and digital printsPanel-to-panel matching within the manufacturer’s tolerance; scale confirmed before printing.Print defects, colour banding and panel shortfall go to the printer or manufacturer; wall-dimension changes after measure.
Peel-and-stick / removableAdhesion is product-dependent and sensitive to paint sheen and age.Placement and cutting workmanship is covered for 30 days; the product’s adhesion is the manufacturer’s; paint damage on removal. Negligent damage by us is never excluded.
Wall protection (rigid sheet, corner guards)Mechanical fastening plus adhesive.Impact the product is designed to resist is not a warranty item; substrate failure.
Acoustic panelsFastening and alignment.Panel material and acoustic performance figures are the manufacturer’s.

Disclosures we make at quoting and reference here: the substrate condition report; whether prep and priming are itemized (if not, who is responsible for the substrate); the grasscloth / natural-fibre variation acknowledgement; dye-lot inspection and the product’s own stopping rule for visible defects; and the humidity and temperature range for the first 72 hours.

What is not covered — the documented exclusions

Documented pre-existing and latent substrate defects are excluded. We remain responsible for preparation and primer requirements we undertake, for damage caused by our work, and for proceeding when the wall was, or reasonably appeared, unsuitable. Subject to that:

  • Wall or substrate movement, settling or drywall cracks telegraphing through, nail pops
  • Moisture from behind the wall, leaks, condensation, humidity outside the manufacturer’s range
  • Failure of paint, primer or previous finishes beneath the wallcovering that we did not prepare or prime
  • Material defects, dye-lot variation, print flaws — manufacturer or supplier
  • Fading, staining, abrasion, pets, cleaning outside the manufacturer’s instructions
  • Customer-supplied material — workmanship covered; the material, shortfalls and re-hanging due to a material defect are not
  • Peel-and-stick / removable products beyond the 30-day placement-and-cutting coverage
  • Wallpaper removal and repaint work: latent substrate conditions that only appear on stripping are documented and priced as a change before we continue; coating defects follow the paint manufacturer

How claims work — year one through us, then directly with the manufacturer

1. Check it against the standard

Minor seam behaviour and paste haze are normal while the wallcovering dries. After the drying period, stand about 1.5 m (5 ft) back in normal room lighting and look straight on.

2. Send us two photos

One from normal viewing distance, one close-up, plus your installation date and address — in writing (email is fine), within the warranty term. That is everything we need to assess it against the standard.

3. We fix, or we prepare the claim

Workmanship — a valid claim within the term gets the remedy below at no charge. Material in year one — where the manufacturer’s program permits the installing dealer to submit, we prepare one complete claim from your information and our installation record, as stated on your quote; the manufacturer decides eligibility and remedy. After year one — product claims go directly to the manufacturer under its written program; on request we provide a copy of the installation records we hold, perform only dealer-only steps required by the written program, and charge standard rates for removal and reinstallation of manufacturer-replaced material unless the program pays labour.

Remedy, limits and conditions

For a valid workmanship claim we will, at our option, repair, replace the affected pane, strip or panel, or refund what you paid for that item. Under this voluntary warranty we do not cover indirect losses such as business interruption, contents or redecoration. These limits apply to this warranty only — they do not limit rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be limited, or our liability for negligence causing personal injury or damage to property other than the affected item, or for wilful misconduct. Manufacturer warranties are governed by the manufacturer’s own written terms and are additional to your rights against us.

  • Who and where: the original client at the original installation address; not transferable.
  • When the term starts: the date you sign the completion record on installation day; the invoice date applies only if no completion record exists.
  • Notice: tell us in writing as soon as you notice a problem, within the warranty term, and give us reasonable access to inspect and fix it. Deterioration caused by an unreasonable delay in reporting is not covered.
  • Payment: remedies under this warranty are paused while any amount under the invoice for the affected project is overdue, except an amount genuinely in dispute — and that never limits rights you have by law.
  • Care: follow the care guidance provided at handoff; damage from cleaning or use contrary to it is excluded.
  • Third parties: repairs, alterations or removal by anyone other than us or the manufacturer’s authorised representative end coverage for the affected item.
  • Earlier projects: these terms apply to quotes accepted on or after 2026-10-01 that name no other version. A quote that names an earlier version keeps it, and earlier projects keep the terms in force when their quote was accepted; earlier versions are available on request.

Why this warranty means something

A warranty is only as good as the company behind it. We are WCB-covered, carry $5M in commercial liability insurance, hold a 5.0-star Google rating, and publish the inspection standard we ask to be judged by — on every pane and every wall we touch.

  • Written workmanship warranty — 1 year residential, 2 years commercial, film and wallpaper alike
  • Manufacturer-provided product coverage, as stated on your quote
  • Year-one manufacturer claims prepared for you where the program allows, as stated on your quote

Warranty questions, answered

How long is the workmanship warranty?

One year from the signed completion record on residential projects and two years on commercial projects. Where your quote names a warranty version, that version applies; otherwise the terms in force when you accepted your quote apply. Earlier versions are available on request.

What does the warranty not cover on wallpaper?

The wall and the building: substrate movement, settling cracks and nail pops telegraphing through, moisture from behind the wall, and paint or primer failure on surfaces we did not prepare. The material: dye-lot variation, print flaws and manufacturing defects go to the manufacturer or supplier. Characteristics of the product you chose — visible seams and shade variation in grasscloth and natural fibres, water marking on textiles, panel tolerance on murals, adhesion of peel-and-stick on your paint — are disclosed at quoting, not defects.

Is grasscloth covered the same way?

Our hanging is — seams, plumb, trim lines, adhesive and primer selection, and the prep we quoted. Visible seams, colour and texture variation between and within strips are inherent to natural-fibre products and are acknowledged at quoting; disclosed adhesive show-through on loosely woven fibres is a characteristic, while removable paste residue or application staining is a workmanship defect.

I supplied the wallpaper myself — what is covered?

Our workmanship on it, in full. The material itself, quantity shortfalls and re-hanging caused by a material defect are not — product claims stay with your seller. Where your quote includes it, we inspect at unpacking and stop at the product’s stated point if a defect is visible.

What happens after the first year?

Workmanship: commercial projects are still covered by us through year two; the residential term has ended. Material: claims go to the manufacturer or supplier under its written program. On request we provide a copy of the installation records we hold, and charge standard rates for removal and re-hanging of manufacturer-replaced material unless the program pays labour.

Is the warranty transferable if I sell?

No — it applies to the original client at the original address.

Planning a project? Send photos of the room and the material and we will quote the work.
