This is the written warranty statement behind every Wall Style Innovations window-film quote — version WSI-WF-2026-10, effective 2026-10-01. What our workmanship warranty covers, what the film manufacturer covers, how glass is handled, how claims work, and the limits and exclusions our quotes reference. Plain language on purpose: a warranty you have to decode is not a warranty. Wallpaper and wallcovering have their own statement: Wallpaper & Wallcovering Warranty.

How workmanship and any product warranty are divided

LayerWhat it coversTerm
Our workmanship warrantyThe installation itself — adhesion, edges, trapped debris and finish quality, measured against the published inspection standardResidential 1 year · Commercial 2 years, from the signed completion record — a valid written claim within the term is corrected at no charge
Manufacturer’s product warranty (where one applies)The film itself, for the defects the manufacturer’s written program coversManufacturer-provided — set and administered by the manufacturer under its own written terms, and not a Wall Style Innovations warranty; product-, application- and purchaser-specific; any term as stated on your quote. Manufacturer coverage is additional to your rights against us.

What the workmanship warranty covers

  • Edge lift or peeling that begins at an edge or corner during the warranty term
  • Obtrusive trapped debris, creases, or contamination that still fails the inspection standard after the film has fully cured
  • Adhesion failures traceable to surface preparation or application
  • Physical damage we cause to your glass, frames or finishes during installation

The test is objective and published: viewed from a normal position — six feet back, in daylight, looking through the glass — after the film’s cure window has passed. If it fails that test and you make a valid written claim within the workmanship term, we correct it at no charge. The full method, including cure times by film type, is on the inspection standards page.

Glass breakage, thermal fracture, and sealed-unit failure

Window film changes how a pane absorbs heat, which is why every professional film manufacturer publishes film-to-glass compatibility charts. We match film to your specific glass — including the sealed double- and triple-pane low-e units common in Calgary homes — and we do not install a film the manufacturer excludes for your glass type; client instruction or acknowledgement cannot waive that rule.

The glass itself is not covered by our workmanship warranty. Glass breakage, thermal fracture and insulated-glass (IGU) seal failure are excluded, because glass fails for many reasons that have nothing to do with film: pre-existing edge damage and chips, frame stress, partial shading patterns, impacts, building movement, and the age of the unit’s seals. Where the film manufacturer’s program includes glass-breakage or seal-failure coverage for qualifying films and glass types, that coverage is manufacturer-provided — set and administered by the manufacturer under its own written terms, and not a Wall Style Innovations warranty; in year one we prepare the claim where the program allows, as stated on your quote. Whether it applies to your combination is as stated on your quote. Damage we cause to your glass during installation, or a film installed against the documented film-to-glass rule, remains our responsibility.

During the pre-installation glass review we note any existing chips, scratches or seal haze so there is never a question later about what was already there.

What is not covered — the documented exclusions

Pre-existing glass, frame, seal and substrate defects are excluded when documented before work. We remain responsible for physical damage caused by our work and for failure to follow the documented film-to-glass and surface-preparation requirements. Subject to that:

  • Glass breakage, thermal fracture, or sealed-unit (IGU) failure — manufacturer coverage where it exists, not the workmanship warranty
  • Pre-existing damage or defects documented at installation (chips, scratches, seal haze or condensation between panes)
  • Impact damage, vandalism, building movement, or water and structural issues originating outside the film or the installation
  • Frame, gasket, spacer or sealant condition; condensation between panes
  • Cleaning damage — any cleaning during the 30-day cure window, or ammonia-based and abrasive cleaners at any time
  • Normal cosmetic characteristics of the product disclosed at quoting — slight haze in some frosted films, visible seams on panes wider than roll width, edge gaps within the standard
  • Colour shift or fading — covered (or excluded) by the manufacturer’s program, not by us
  • Customer-supplied film — our workmanship on it is still covered; the material itself is not
  • Films removed or reinstalled by others; window replacement by others
  • Exterior-grade films beyond their manufacturer term — exterior products carry shorter, product-specific manufacturer-provided coverage, as stated on your quote

How claims work — year one through us, then directly with the manufacturer

1. Check it against the standard

If the concern is haze or small bubbles in the first weeks, wait out the cure window for your film type — in the great majority of cases it resolves on its own. Then check from six feet back, in daylight, looking through the glass.

2. Send us two photos

One from normal viewing distance, one close-up, plus your installation date and address — in writing (email is fine), within the warranty term. That is everything we need to assess it against the standard.

3. We fix, or we prepare the claim

Workmanship — a valid claim within the term gets the remedy below at no charge. Film in year one — where the manufacturer’s program permits the installing dealer to submit, we prepare one complete claim from your information and our installation record, as stated on your quote; the manufacturer decides eligibility and remedy. After year one — product claims go directly to the manufacturer under its written program; on request we provide a copy of the installation records we hold, perform only dealer-only steps required by the written program, and charge standard rates for removal and reinstallation of manufacturer-replaced material unless the program pays labour.

Remedy, limits and conditions

For a valid workmanship claim we will, at our option, repair, replace the affected pane, strip or panel, or refund what you paid for that item. Under this voluntary warranty we do not cover indirect losses such as business interruption, contents or redecoration. These limits apply to this warranty only — they do not limit rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be limited, or our liability for negligence causing personal injury or damage to property other than the affected item, or for wilful misconduct. Manufacturer warranties are governed by the manufacturer’s own written terms and are additional to your rights against us.

  • Who and where: the original client at the original installation address; not transferable.
  • When the term starts: the date you sign the completion record on installation day; the invoice date applies only if no completion record exists.
  • Notice: tell us in writing as soon as you notice a problem, within the warranty term, and give us reasonable access to inspect and fix it. Deterioration caused by an unreasonable delay in reporting is not covered.
  • Payment: remedies under this warranty are paused while any amount under the invoice for the affected project is overdue, except an amount genuinely in dispute — and that never limits rights you have by law.
  • Care: follow the care guidance provided at handoff; damage from cleaning or use contrary to it is excluded.
  • Third parties: repairs, alterations or removal by anyone other than us or the manufacturer’s authorised representative end coverage for the affected item.
  • Earlier projects: these terms apply to quotes accepted on or after 2026-10-01 that name no other version. A quote that names an earlier version keeps it, and earlier projects keep the terms in force when their quote was accepted; earlier versions are available on request.

Why this warranty means something

A warranty is only as good as the company behind it. We are WCB-covered, carry $5M in commercial liability insurance, hold a 5.0-star Google rating, and publish the inspection standard we ask to be judged by — on every pane and every wall we touch.

  • Written workmanship warranty — 1 year residential, 2 years commercial, film and wallpaper alike
  • Manufacturer-provided product coverage, as stated on your quote
  • Year-one manufacturer claims prepared for you where the program allows, as stated on your quote

Warranty questions, answered

How long is the workmanship warranty?

One year from the signed completion record on residential projects and two years on commercial projects. Where your quote names a warranty version, that version applies; otherwise the terms in force when you accepted your quote apply. Earlier versions are available on request.

Does the warranty cover glass breakage?

Not under the workmanship warranty — glass can break for reasons that have nothing to do with film, so no honest installer warrants the glass itself. We only install films the manufacturer rates for your specific glass; where the manufacturer’s program includes glass-breakage or seal-failure coverage for your film-and-glass combination, that coverage is manufacturer-provided — set and administered by the manufacturer under its own written terms, and not a Wall Style Innovations warranty, as stated on your quote. Damage we cause to your glass during installation remains our responsibility.

What about seal failure on double- or triple-pane windows?

Sealed units are exactly why film-to-glass matching matters. We spec film against the manufacturer’s compatibility chart for your glass build — including triple-pane low-e units, which need triple-pane-rated films — and we do not install a film the manufacturer excludes, even on request. IGU seal failure is excluded from the workmanship warranty; manufacturer coverage applies only on qualifying combinations, and pre-existing seal wear is documented during the glass review so it never becomes a dispute.

How long is the film itself warranted?

Film coverage is manufacturer-provided — set and administered by the manufacturer under its own written terms, and not a Wall Style Innovations warranty, for that specific product, application and purchaser; any term is as stated on your quote. Terms differ by product line and by glass. Where we hold no verified written term for a product, none is represented — we do not promise a term the manufacturer has not put in writing.

What happens after the first year?

Workmanship: commercial projects are still covered by us through year two; the residential term has ended. Film: product claims go directly to the manufacturer under its written program. On request we provide a copy of the installation records we hold, perform only dealer-only steps the program requires of us, and charge standard rates for removal and reinstallation of manufacturer-replaced film unless the program pays labour.

Do I need to register my warranty?

Not for our workmanship warranty — your quote, invoice and signed completion record are your proof. Where a manufacturer’s program requires registration and allows the installing dealer to submit it, we submit it as stated on your quote.

Is the warranty transferable if I sell?

No — it applies to the original client at the original address. Manufacturer programs set their own transfer rules, stated in their written terms.
